I heard about this free mod people use to do to free up a couple extra hp on the Indy 500's in the early 90's by cutting either the pipe or y-pipe an inch down and welding it back together. I have an extra pipe and y-pipe I'd like to experiment with. Does anybody know exactly where you're supposed to cut it? And any other information or tips on free hp like rejetting, clutching changes, or rpm range?

i have heard what you are talking about! i believe you cut down the actual pipe. and i believe the reasoning behind it all is so that it can hold more heat in the pipe. dont quote me on it tho

Search for the 2-stroke pipe calculator and compare the generated results to your stock pipe, if you can't find PM me on slednutz and I'll find it tomorrow.
