For sleds with Mikuni flatside carbs, they don't do much- if anything at all.

The 98xc600 has Keihin carbs right? If so go for the SLP plastic boost bottle, it will help clean up the bottom end, it did on my wifes 99xc600 anyway.

I put one on a '98XC600 (with Keihin carbs)that a buddy owns and it did help clean up the bottom end. You MIGHT have to go up one size on the pilot jet. We didn't have to, every machine is different. Did not completely get rid of the popping though, but helped some for that.
