I have looked at a lot of trail reports for northern mi and they all look like crap. was supposed to go to gaylord mi next monday and theres no snow. this is the only time me and my girlfriend have off together to snowmobile this winter. Is there anywhere within 8 hours of detroit that has decent ridable snow?
any help would be greatly appreciated

(this report is 7 days old and even then: "Trails are in need of some fresh snow")

Supposed to turn cold tomorrow with lake effect snow, but I wouldn't count on getting enough to replace what was lost this week.

Call ahead to the resorts that do the trail reports here. You may have to go to W. UP like they said.

I also reference the news out of Cadillac for the latest weather for the area:

(I hate their 7-day forecast charts - highs and lows are opposite of every other new station, BTW)

Your parade is not the only one that was rained on, this is not what you want to see but I'm gonna post up the pictures, It takes 8 hours to get to Marquette from Detroit and that depends on how the road conditions are, Munising is 7 hours, if you plan on going there you had better call ahead and make sure there are conditions to ride on, my trip to the northern lower has been put on hold till later in January, and that will only be when I know there is a good solid ground cover of base, I only get to go trail ride a couple time a season so I am gonna make sure when I do that there is snow to ride on, in the mean time I'm gonna get the ICE sled ready and go beat the snot out of it.

I left Mancelona and Gaylord today about 2pm....A couple of inches of fresh on the ground. WKLT said that Petoskey was going to get 4 inches. If your heading north on 127. Don't get excited when you get to Harrison. There is more snow in Harrison than Grayling....Weird
