Just wondering if any of you have any opinions on or experience with the 550 SuperSport or the 550 Classic. I have to admit, I didn't do a lot of research on it before I bought it. But I've heard the 550 is bulletproof.

Hey, man, I think thats great! You won't go quite as fast as the liquids, but you're gonna enjoy a fat ride.I've got a fan and don't really have any problems keeping up.Thats a great sled for the $$.
friends got one.. LOVES IT. go for a 600... hehe u gotta love a nice 600... wooo hooo!

Duct tape much like the force... it has a light side, a dark side.... and it holds the world together!
Well if you want to get the Super Sport you may consider the Arctic Cat Z 570. They say its faster then the Super Sport.
I thought that the Classic was a liquid 500(488 Fuji). A good friend has a 2000 500 Classic good riding good running sled.
Not sure if it is the clutch settup or the nature of the sled but it is'nt very responsive. Seems to have good top end for a 500 but sluggish through the trails. I don't know much about the 550 Super Sport. Either way you'll have a blast this winter

The 02 550 has a new digital timing system that should make it a better engine than the previous years.
The secret with fan engines is to give them plenty of air. Make sure the intake and oulet vents arn't restricted in any way and that you have the correct heat range plug. The head and crankcase temps tend to run higher on a fan cooled than a liquid cooled engine so the correct plug is more critical than on a liquid cooled machine. Follow the jetting recomandation for cold temps and you should be fine.
By the way it will beat a 570 AC.

I don't remember right now but does that Classic come with the M-10 rear as well? If so that is an awesome skid!

Just the 600&700 classics come with the M10.The 500 is a liquid without variable exhaust, and the 550 is a reed assist fan.

Which did you get, AKScrambler, the classic or supersport?
I bought the Super Sport. I just talked to a friend yesterday and she's looking into getting the Classic. She's back in Ionia, Michigan and will probably be doing mostly groomed trail riding.

Yes I believe that the 500 classic is the liquid 488 Fuji. That is one bullet proof motor. You can't go wrong with it.

"...Then one day you find 10 years have got behind you, no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun."
yes pics again... what year is it? new? that would be sweet... driving by the polaris shop yesterday new shipment of sleds some snow checks i think and 12 racers... 5.7 gallon alcohol tanks and some sweeeeeeeet mods..!

my 2001 700 classic has Xtra12 and electronic adjust shock. can pick soft or firm ride depending on where you are at. very fast off the line but not 100mph like my older tripl 600s
Oldest revived thread yet...
just got a 2001 700 classic. awesome machine. has electronic adjustable shock for changing ride. extremely fast off the line even without picks. the 600 is nice also. love it so far. going to MI soon to ride.
