right around 8100 to 8300 is pretty ideal. Dont think you want to rev much higher than that. 8300 I think is a little high. My 01 revs @ 8100.

8,000 +/- 200 that's the official number out of the manual.

7800 on a calibrated tach, 8000 on a non-calibrated tach. 02's make their peak at 7800 and HP drops off dramatically after that. Upwards of 10hp 200RPM's after that. So needless to say they need to be clutched right to run.

Exactly. I just calibrated an 02 800 tach and it was 400 rpm high. After we did it we adjusted clutching to 7800 and now it's working right.
