How much clearance is needed (with a heavy layering of heat reflect tape on the inside of the hood) in order to not melt a hood? Anyone have any experience with this?

I've run my hood close to an inch a way from the exhaust with no heat tape, I have melted the belly pan with my pipes with like a 1/4 inch away, I put some heat tape on the pan and no more problems

Inder normal conditions i would say an inch, but for thinner plastic, or high heat I would go more. I had a buddy with a non ves 700 with some twins that melted from an inch and one half. but heat tape will fix all that

One or 2 pieces of tape thick should be fine, you just need the mirror like finish to reflect the heat.
