this past friday i was out with my 1980 tx-l 340 with my brother in law on his 94 jag 440 we were goofing around and somehow decided to race and it was pretty much dead even up to about 75 mph then i was quite surprised when my 340 started pulling away it was alot of fun i had to give him crap about it the rest of the night. so he refused to buy in the bar later that night lol

yeah i belive it them tx-l were really good sleds and they were pretty fast
Back when I had a 440 Jag, It lost to some late 70's early 80's TX 340. I got rid of the jag the next fall.

Yeah it was good timing when you got rid of it too.

LOL, good job! I dislike jags myself. They just seem so low end, like the older ones. Well, I suppose they were meant to be for lower income people and for kids to start out on.

I shudder @ the thought of my jag.

My indy 440 was so much better. My XCR 440 is just great compared to that thing.

Yeah, my cousin has a Jag and it is pretty much junk. It always breaks down, and never can go very far without having some type of problem.

the 340 in question was a polaris l/c sled right?

The 340 and 440 l/c engines are very similar. From the exterior, besides the "440" on the head, they look identical. The only difference I know is the displacement.

Therefor, the 340 l/c should beat 440 fan cooled sled. a 340 l/c prolly has around 50something HP, and 440 fans (up until about 98) have around 45HP or so...

that's seems kinda stupid
Makes sense to me. Put a Pro X liquid cooled 440 and a Pro X fan cooled beside each other and race them. The liquid will eat the fan cooled one even though the other one is the same displacement.

yeah it was a liquid and still is i have a 440 liquid as a spare motor for it but yeah this sled hauls not bad for 300 bucks lol i call my tx-l ole reliable ive had it 3 years years and its never even fouled a plug or had any other problem except running out of gas once and needing wearbars put on so i put on carbides cuz i had them thing starts on 1st or second pull without choke even after sitting 2 months god i love this sled
