Think I'm running a little rich in the low to mid-throttle range and was thinking of dropping a size on the needle jet. My question is what about dropping the needles a notch- is that equivelant to dropping the jet one size? Also, if I do change the jet size do I need to change needles as well? My carbs are the 38 Mikuni roundslides.

Why do you not want to just drop the needles one ring?

low range = piolet and air screw
mid range = needle jet and mixing tube
high range= main jet
(these are all associated so you change one thing you must check that the other is ok)
if you are having problems with richness in the bottom to mid range I would drop your needle one notch (raising the e-clip) and check that, it will also lean your mian alittle so becarefull
Don't mess with needles unless you have no more adjustment
