I live just south of houghton so Im up in the keweenaw. They tend to get a bit overly excited at times but others there spot on. I'm definitly hoping for it though. I'm heading up to the dealership right now to pick up my step dads parts and get me some carbides so I can ride tonight or, more than likely, tomorrow.
"THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MARQUETTE HAS ISSUED A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO 1 AM EST SUNDAY. THE LAKE EFFECT SNOW WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT."
"EXPECT SNOW SHOWERS TO DEVELOP THIS MORNING AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY EVENING. THE HEAVIEST SNOW DURING THIS TIME IS LIKELY TO FALL IN A RELATIVELY NARROW BAND FROM HANCOCK TO CALUMET AND PHOENIX...WHERE AS MUCH AS 10 INCHES WILL ACCUMULATE OVER HIGHER TERRAIN. SNOWFALL ACROSS THE REST OF THE KEWEENAW PENINSULA WILL BE 4 TO 8 INCHES. ONCE WINDS SHIFT TO THE NORTH THIS EVENING...THE HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS WILL PRESS SOUTH PAST PAINESDALE AND TWIN LAKES. ALTHOUGH SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE LATE TONIGHT...ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATION WILL BE LESS THAN 2 INCHES."
My fingeres are crossed for myself and the rest of you guys. If we do get all this snow, I think they would open up the trails and get them groomed. 6" inhces minimum with a base. We dont have a base but with that much snow, it shoul be enough.
*edit*
Come to think of it, i better get up there now. Its a touch over 20 minute drive up there (chassell to calumet) on way. I better get going before its bad out : O. Its snowing pretty good right now. When I get back I'll take a pic.
