motor is from a ultra spx. 680cc could be a late 97 based on manufacture date, but probaly a 98.
was the ultra made in 98?
does the motor have ex. valves?

the xcr7 only had VES in '99. The '98s didn't have exhaust valves.

EC68-PL03 motors were used in '97 Ultra SPX's and '98 XCR 700's. A common misconception is that the 1998 XCR 700 is 700cc; it is actually 680cc. The only 700cc triple motor Polaris made was the VES 1999.

I'm confusied on the model number. The Model Number should start with a 097xxxx for '97 models or 098xxxx for '98 models. The number you gave sounds more like a Part Number for an engine component, being that it starts with a 3.
