On my '97 Ultra, I noticed a wire going into the expansion chamber on my exhaust system. Would this be a wire for an O2 sensor? If so, I thought they only came on EFI sleds, and what does the O2 sensor do? If it's not an O2 sensor, what could it be? I'd take a picture but the camera isn't working.

Snowmobiles have yet to adapt O2 sensors. Those wires go to a probe in the silencer that is an exhaust temp sensor. If the exhaust gets too hot, say after a long run, it will shut the engine down. You can disconnect the wires and disable this, it wont harm anything. If you were to put an aftermarket silencer on, you would have to disconnect these wires. -Polaris Doc
