I have a 550 Supersport M10 stock jets and everything. The manual says use 87 0r 89 octane. Will running premium (92 0r 93) hurt anything or help anything?

premium is usually what most people will use because it burns a little cleaner and will give you a slight increase in power over low or mid grade gasoline

In the 550 run 87, you will not see any increase in power with premium.

Wrong wrong. Best power is made from the lowest octane possible your engine can handle without det. The power loss between 93 and 87 in your sled will never be noticed but it is there in a very small amount. All you are doing is waisting money. But no it will not hurt anything at all. Run whatever you want.

^^ he is right...I believe there was an online calculator that you put in your compression ratio (or current compression reading if your engine has some hours on it), your altitude, and optional riding style...it will tell you your minimum octane fuel. People seem to think their sleds are running better because they paid more for the fuel, but in all reality if it runs fine with no pinging on regular fuel, higher octane fuel does nothing (unless you get these gas station specific "super clean" fuels like at Petro-Canada, these additives may or may no help with various issues related to the combustion of fuel and the build up of carbon, but its the additives, NOT the octane...octane is just a measure of how much pressure a fuel can withstand before it spontaneously ignites)
