I plan on replacing the upper radiator hose that connects to the head. My question is how to purge the system once I replace it. I don't think I will even loose much antifreeze, but I heard that these cooling systems get air pockets and that can damage the motor. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Ray

There should be some kind of vent plug on top of the head. Just fill it back up and you'll be OK. The problem is when the air gets into the heat exchangers. Then it is hard to get out. Just check it after you get it up to operating temp and it cools back down.

In addition to the air bleed screw, I park my sled on my trailer with the bed tilted in the loading position so that the frontend of the sled is pointing up. THen warm up your sled with the cap off the coolant reservoir so it can let out the bubbles.. When you're warming it up feel those heat exchangers to make sure they're warming up too.

Hope that helps...
