my buddie just picked up a y pipe and pipe, its a carb 03 zr 900 (rare) he was told he needs not to rejet but i know he needs to. we are central mn. not shur of pipe make. how many jet sizes up and or move needle clip?
Those 900's werent efi? So this pipe is a single not twins? My opinion is if you dont have to rejet then your not gaining anything...just to be on the safe side you can jump up at least 2 jet sizes to start. Test, tune, test, tune until the plugs are a nice carboard color brown. As far as the needle thats going to depend on how shes running in the mid range wether your lean or to rich. I would at least wait until the temp. outside is around 32 degrees before you really start to "dial" it in...my buddy got to excited last year with his twins he just put on in the summer and wanted to tune it right in, in the middle of September.Dec. came and went for the first ride it was a little on the lean side. This is one area you want to take your time and do it right.
