okay my new to me 93 xlt has 5200 miles on it and was thinking of refreshing the engine. wanted to put new crank seals in, new gaskets, and upper end overhaul. was wonreding on rough price of rings, pistons, cost of boring if needed, gaskets and seals. and if aftermarket parts that are better and not much more then stock i'd go that way. And any recommended tools for overhauling. I'm a diesel tech with a ton of tools and shop equipment so just for the small engine like clutch removal and seal installers and such.

Rings and a top end gasket set will run you about $120 shipped.

If you need pistons, double that.

That's great in theory, but both of your sled are getting to the point you you need to start worrying about the piston skirts breaking..

Before making the assumption that they're fine, you need to check them out.

That's after market.. Winderosa gaskets, and SPI rings/moly pistons. (I've used each multiple times with no failures)

OEM (factory) is around double the price.
