i just removed mine on my 97 ultra (same thing), yes it is just the four bolts but you have to loosen the track also. let me know of any more questions

Yes, the easiest way to get your shocks out is to remove your skid. I just did it and it was easy. Good luck.

Yes, just loosen the track and take the 4 bolts out. Putting the suspension back in can be a pain, so I advise you get a friend or two if you can. When you put it back in, you can dangle the torsion springs so the shock compresses easier to install the skid.

ratchet strap helps some time if you dont want to remove the springs, or atleast in my experiences it does

2nd that!! The ratcheting strap is THE trick to making the install EASY- one person.
