If your recoil comes unsprung, do you mess with it or just take it somewhere?

I have been pissing with my for the last 3 hours and am so mad I don't even want to look at it anymore. If you do it yourslef do you have any tips/tricks to make it work. I can get it wound up but as soon as I think about putting into the case it goes crooked and just springs everywhere.

If I take it somewhere, who could do it? Would a small engine shop be able to?

The easiest way is to wind it in the case. You need to hook the spring in both ends and put it in the case then wind it. Not sure for your specific application but with most recoils it is possible to do this.

Sled is a 99 700 rmk, I tried this, but I couldn't get them to stay hooked. I don't know why this one is being so difficult, this isn't my first one and usually I have success in the first couple tries.

Thanks for that link. A friend of mine told me how to do that, but I couldn't figure out how to adapt it to this situation. The vise grip was the answer. I'll give it a try tomorow. Thanks ACM for that sticky to.
