So, earlier in the week i purchased a sled that needs some work. When i opened the hood i saw that the rotary valve cover had been removed. It needed a new oil pump so im guessimg it was taken off to make the oil pump removal easier. Anyways, my question is as follows. If i havent removed the actual rotary valve (disk) do i neccesarily need to retime it before reassembly or am i good to go? Another thing i was wondering is does the rotary valve have to be in any particular position before reassembling the rotary valve cover or can i just slap it on and letter buck?

If you're absolutely sure that the valve wasn't off then you shouldn't need to time it. This thread on dootalk should help you time the sled. http://www.dootalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=246340 Here is another topic: http://www.snowmobilefanatics.com/forum/topic/87206/display.aspx There are several other guys who have posts regarding the timing. I believe google can help you out some too.
