I am looking at purchasing a 2004 Polaris Edge 700 Touring, it has around 3,500 miles (5,000 km) . The seller has stated towards the end of last year it developed a rubbing noise under the hood. He cannot identify the issue and I'm a newbie. Any ideas of what it could be. Visual inspection does not show any signs and all looks normal. Thanks in advance.

It could be a number of things....a bearing gone bad in the jackshaft or driveshaft....something in the chaincase isn't happy....track rubbing somewhere....and any number of other things. Being a newbie and likely not looking to get burned maybe ask to have a dealer check it out and price it accordingly. Good luck and welcome to SF.
