It all really depends on if the sled was clutched, geared and what not. In stock form I believe the rxl had a top speed of 70-75, but that was with poor clutching, I have an orange on mine and at 75 it wants to go more.

But I guess it depends on alot of variables.

an rxl should do a lot more than 70 to 75, it should do at least 85 or 90 stock, probably even more than that, you and your buddy should be pretty equal i think

Well i bought a 92 RXL last year, i'll put it to like this 1/2 throttle 55 to 60 m/p/h. My machine was stock with the stock gear ratio, and single pipe not even a clutch kit! Had it well over 95 M/P/H and wouldn't look at the speedo after that. Had too pay attention to the lake after that. My old T'NT 440 would do 65 M/P/H any day of the week and twice on sunday! The R X L is a rocket compared to that, even my dad who is an old T'NT owner and often improved that old sled, said one trip across the lake and couldn't beleve the power. He drove it first before me and told me to be carefull, even though this thing has studs its still spinning the track at 55 M/P/H. OH ya its allot faster than 70-75 M/P/H

Your RXL should have a realistic top speed of 90 MPH, it may say you are doing 105 on the speedo, but they are always a tad off. But, believe me, I've ridden a 580 XLT and my RXL back to back and raced them, both and you should have fun with your buddy, as he looks at your tail light!

Have seen a stock RXL run 107 on radar in 1990. Was on glare ice with 96 studs 1/2 mile run up to speed 1/2 mile on the gun to get top speed during that time.
