My 96 600 XCR has FOX RACING SHOX and they need rebuilding. My question is do I rebuild for $60.00 per shock plus $40.00 if the shafts are pitted or change to a different make?Any thoughts ?
Unless you plan on racing or riding aggressivly you should buy some new shocks. There are several compainies that have gas shocks with gas bags inside that never need recharging or rebuilding but they are not rebuildable. They don't lose thier charge but you can't change the valving in them.
If you do decide to get them rebuilt, i would recommend buying the shock covers that cover them...this will help prevent the moisture and salt getting on the shafts. And i personally spray the shafts of mine with WD-40 to keep them from rusting during summer storage. I think the Fox shox are worth the money but like erick said it depends on how you do your riding.
I got a magazine here that says it's 249 dollars for a shock kit for 2 shocks (that's US Dollars, 389.95 canadian dollars) and if u want Position Sensitive they are 399 US, 599.95 cdn.
