Had stingers for my 97 zrt, they made it a little bit slower and I never noticed the weight difference. But the sound, OH the sound, 2 loud for the stupid neighbors, but who cares at 2a.m. !!!!!!!!!!
I'll have some for the new sled as soon as they make some .

i have always wondered that too do they make that much of a difference...i was planning on buying a dg snowlite silencer for my ext 580 since they are the only company that makes canisters...i found one for $91.50$ and i see them in catalogs for $115$...nuts...but do they really make that much of a difference on trhottle response and yes they do weigh a lot loss...ranging from 4-13 lbs depends on what kinda sled u have

Duct tape the only real solution

Well I'd been doing A LOT of looking into this. From what I've found, there is definately a difference in the weight savings. I just bought a Superlite from Precision Performance Products for my 97 XLT SP. It normaly went for $229, but I got it for $95 because it was a close out item.

It sounds great! Its not too loud, but it has a nice throaty growl to it. As for the hp gains, they stated some where around 4 hp I think. I haven't gotten to ride it yet, so I can't comment on any percieved gains. Now for $95 I don't think thats too bad. But if you have to spend upwards of $230.....well then I guess its a personal call.

Here's a link to a great site that has a lot of reviews on silencers. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page under "Reviews". They covor Dynoport, MBRP, SLP, and PPP. However I totally disagree with the guy that reviewed the Superlite by PPP. He made it sound like it was way too loud. I didn't find this to be the fact with my Superlite.

try to get a quiet(er) one, not one of the super loud ones, i personally LOVE the super loud ones, but when im 30, i wanna be able to ride in more than my back yard, and the ppl that dont like the loud pipes, are gonna b*tch about it and we wont be able to ride newhere. IMO

Where would i go to find a quiet one? Cause my dad has a problem with the loud ones and he won't let me put one on unless it is quieter (i don't think that i spelled that right) i am 15 and he is 42 and he just don't understand why i need a sil. so if i find a quiet one i can get one. Can anyone help me out?

I would have to say either the Quiet can by MBRP, here's a link to a review on it:

Or the silencers made by SLP. This guy stated that he didn't think the SLP silencer was any louder than stock, just a different sound.....here's the review:

Why call it a silencer if it only makes it louder??? Why not a loudener?

It still makes the sled quieter than running straight pipes. What sled are you looking for a silencer for?
