I believe that the center to center distance(at the spindle) is 40" on a 93 XLT, but I am not sure. But I usually measure off of the wear rod. I usaully have a 1/8 of an inch toe out. Just make sure you put a bungie strap between the skis when you do it to pull them together. Any bit of toe in will cause major "darting".
Do you mean like to measure and make sure that the skis are parallel to each other or that the skis are straight when the handlebars are?

xltman,

Check your PM inbox and see if my messages answered what you you were asking, if not i know that i can explain all of what i said alot better....Let me know what you think.

I agree with skippy. The skiis should be no more than 40.55 inches apart. If they are then correct it with dealer supervision.

That's all assuming your bushings on the steering are nice and tight otherwise an alignment is not really worth bothering over. However, I was suggested to get a rod that you can put in place of the ski bolts and align the spindles with that rather than try the fussy measuring. I haven't gotten an alignment rod yet but it does sound more accurate and simpler to me.

Just measure the distance beween the backs of the skis and the fronts and make sure they are the same, that is what I do at least, if I ever feeling like making sure my skis are aligned.

Triumph, dude, you should post that not PM that. We want all your good tips too!

what im attempting is to make sure my skis are parallel with each other, my owners manual soesnt give a spec other then 1/8 to 1/4 toe out. my handlebars were off when i bought it, and i want to ensure that my sled will track straight. the rod through the ski bolts is a good idea, but im gonna have to call polaris for all the specs, as far as camber, etc. so if anyone knows what my between the skis should be, please resond
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as long as the front and back of the ski are the same, the actual measurement should be irrelevant right?

Correct Bman, just as long as the two measurments match.

thanks to polarisman, stance is 36", polaris says to measure from inside edge to inside edge of the skis, and then do the same on the tail end of the skis, they can be 1/8 to 1/4 dofference, but im gonna try the rod i dea as well
Interesting topic. I guess no more is needed to be said. Good luck!

Hey Bman,

I would have posted all of what i sent to xltman but it would have taken up wayyyyy too much space. I do it kinda different than just measure the front and rear of the ski's. Im sure that if you really wanna know what i sent to xlt, then he could prolly copy and paste it from his PM box if you ask him really nice.
