I would like to put a edge skid in my 99 XC with Xtra-10 in it now. Will it bolt in the stock tunnel holes or are new holes needed? Also, has anyone done this and found that it has any negative effects to handling? Lastly, does anyone have an edge skid they wanna part with? Thanks.

Great upgrade, but you will have to move the mounting points. Did it last year, let me see if I can find the thread I did on it.

Here we go: http://www.snowmobilefanatics.com/forum/topic/101906/display.aspx?page=1

Also check out the JBShocks website for the mounting points measurements. Great source of information.

Thanks man, How does it handle now that the rear it so much higher? What did you use for mounting brackets? Did you have to add that yellow tunnel supports? Are the mounting holes the same height off the running boards as the original holes? Thanks again.

It handles great. I had to add a little ski pressure because it pushed like crazy in the turns, but once I got it dialed in I was very happy with it overall.

The holes are the same height relative to where they are in the tunnel, so you can't just eye them up. I used the same supports and redrilled and riveted the mounting points.

You know the adage "Measure twice, cut once?" Make sure when you do it, that you measure 4 times before you drill. I was 1/8 of an inch off on the rear mount, and I had to improvise a bit.

Tunnel supports were for looks mainly, but I was surprised how much rigidity they added. Definitely worth picking some up.

Check out HCS, there's always a couple edge skids floating around over there.

Hey thanks man. So the measurements off that jbshocks site are good? I don"t think I'll have any problems finding a skid, ebay or something.

Of course they are good, Seriously though. I have had them up for years and if I had to guess I would think over 1000 people have used them. I also have an article I wrote on there "suspension swaps how to" http://www.jbshocks.com/edgeswap/swap.html check it out.

extra 12 front with the edge rear will be fine. The only thing you might want to do is bend the cooler fin a little at the rear where the tsl is mounted if it looks like it could interfere
