I have a 1997 XLTxp. Someone told me that the stock heads on these machines were similiar to the aftermarket heads offered by manufactures such as SLP. Any truth to this? Would I see hp gains by adding a set of SLP heads to my machine? There are some on ebay now and I thought it might be an easy and economical way to add a few hp.

thanks in advance

Don't know much about them except for what I've seen in SLP's catalogue and website. They claim something like a 8-10 hp gain I believe. Several hundred dollars from SLP. If you can get a good price, go for it and let us know how it works.

Your best bang for the buck would be triple pipes (add about 20hp).See those on Ebay all the time. From what I have heard the SLP's are the quietest. Was told to stay away from the PSI's. If you already have the pipes, then the heads would be a nice addition.
