Snowmobile Safety Course this Sat.

The West Rome Riders, Inc. snowmobile club and Cycle
Shack Polaris will be holding another NYS Parks &
Recreation Snowmobile Safety Course on Sat., 1/20,
from 9 to 5 at Cycle Shack Polaris, Erie Blvd. West,
in W. Rome. For FREE pre-registration, call
315-339-1511. Lunch will be provided.
The State-certified volunteer instructors cover the safe
snowmobiling operation "rules", educating attendees
about the fundamental information which all
snowmobilers should possess in order to ensure the
safety of riders and other trail users before going
out onto the trails. One important issue that is also
covered in this particular class is the need for more
respect of the private landowners that allow
snowmobile use on their lands and how heavily
snowmobile clubs across the State rely on the
generosity of these many individuals, emphasizing on
how much time and effort clubs representatives spend
on keeping landowners' properties open for the
continued wintertime use and unfortunate re-routing of
closed trails.
Anyone, youth and/or adult, over the age of 10 is eligible
to attend this course. Successful completion of this
course results in the award of a NYS Snowmobile Safety
Certificate.

Parks website at:

How long have you been gone sparkyd? It's beginning to pick back up with the 600 new jobs at the DFAS and businesses flocking to the new Oneida Co. Airport at Griffiss. They closed the Whitestown Oneida Co. Airport and moved the new NYS Terror Training Center there and are also looking at a race track there. They're looking to secure part of the CNY Air Freight business at Griffiss and utilize the 3rd longest airstrip in the US soon. If that happens, freight companies and trucking outfits will be building new terminals up there and the jobs will come back. Optimism. I have lived here through the good, bad, very bad, and now the upturn. Houses are selling and new homes are being built quite regularly. Then again, I like it here. the school is really good and I don't like living in an area overrun with trouble and too many people, so I hope Rome never ends up even remotely close to Rottenchester. ha,ha!! :)

If they don't get more signed up by 2 pm today, they will be forced to cancel the class. Pretty hard to believe that we have had 40 - 50 attend each of our previous 10 classes and can't get 15 signed up for this on. Crappy winter put the damper on the safety courses too? I hope this snow helps motivate some to call and sign up right away.
