You can do it.I've seen guys at the sand dunes here ride sleds.
Problem is they don't cool well enough,and real hard on track and most all moving components with the track.
But if you can get the ski's off the sand good they haul a$$
Most guys just put a sled motor in a four wheeler frame and have more fun.Less weight.
I've only rode on sand with snow on them the best and smoothest ride on a sled no need to worry about rocks,tree stumps and such.
but I think I'll still rather run my banshee.Just mainly because of the weight differance.Alot of the riding we do is hillclimbing through trees and cliff jumping and such don't know how the long sleds would do?
we have a couple old rev 440's that we put radiators on. one off an old scrambler and one off an old street bike. works pretty well, we can do like 15 minute motos in the sand over at a gravel bed...not quite the same but with the lack of snow here this year its better than nothing.
