Someday

Someday I will hit the mountains. Will need to rent a sled or borrow one (if one of you would be so kind ;) ) but someday my cousin and I want to hit the mountains. What do you guys really think of it? I have never really even gotten close to similar conditions. Most I had was riding powder in an open field that was like 50 yards wide and less than 100 yards long.

I've grown up on the West Coast ranges and have been skiing for 29 years now. I could not imagine a life of sledding without the exhilaration of a sled doing a standee at the crest of the hills or to feel the bottom drop out from under you when you fly from that same crest on the way back.

I love to hear the stories of the flat land rides. ie the distance you can cover and fuel stops that aren't in a gerry can. Lakes galore but give me the top of the world for sure!

flat land will always be for me :) love hitting a lake and just going WOT gaining speed till you top out then taking a cruise through the trails.
Some day I'll make it out West.
Just talked to a guy from my area that went out to WY in January. He and three other guys had a blast, they rented RMK 700s for four days and rode them like they were rented!
I not sure how it works when your in the moutains, but I like riding from one trailstop to the next and actually having a destination. I've done up to about 220 miles in a day, hopefully next year conditions will be better and I'll be able to do 300 in one day and 1000 in 3 1/2 days.
This year would have been great with the low gas prices so low, next year they will probably be over $2.00 a gal on the trails.

Trails and lakes are for me!

we did 500.5 miles in 3 days the one time. Most I did.
One time I used up a full tank of gas. 10.5 gal and only went 35Kilometers(about 20 miles) 90KM on the odometer. Now that's a lot of track spin in the deep stuff!!

ha CMX mmm nice way to blow 20k. you really shouldn't link to images that are hosted on Crazy Mountains site unless you have permission to use their bandwith for that purpose.

Why is that bad SD? Seems like free advertising to me since it is a public site.

It is their property and I don't think it is right unless you have express permission because it takes away from their bandwith to have those images here and constantly being accessed. Would you like it if you ran a server that you wanted ppl to freely look at and it was slow because ppl were linking to images on it all the time? I know I hate going to a website that is slow even on my DSL. besides which technically they could take legal action because it is their property(the bandwith I doubt they care about the pictures).

Ok but I think I disagree. They may think differently but from a sales point of view I'd rather the name get out there. IT bandwidth just becomes another cost of advertising which ultimately becomes a sale thus paying for the bandwidth. Just my opinion. Only they can answer if it is right or not.

it is all up to the owner of the bandwith really. I mean they have the pics and stuff on their website which is something that was obviouslly deemed ok to do by the owner of the bandwith. This however probably wasn't. A simple link to the site would probably have the same effect. If he were hosting the images on his own server the advertising would still be occuring but their precious(yes sometimes it is) bandwith wouldn't be eaten up with it.
ok ok, I changed it, but I don't agree with your view. Happy now? I didn't want to cause you guys to argue.

Can we get back to the topic at hand?

I don't think we were arguing either just stating. I just know that is the way it is done at a couple other forums I used to frequent.(usually to prevent any possible legal recourse) Anyway man I would love to hit some powder on one of those. Then again I would love to hit any snow :|

I assume you ride in the Cascades but where?
