MY SON HAS A 1998 440 XCR. LAST YEAR ON A RIDE THE MACHINE QUIT.AFTER CHECKING IT OUT WE FOUND IT HAD NO SPARK. DID THE NORMAL STUFF TO CHECK IT OUT,UNPLUGGED THE SINGLE WIRE ON THE ENGINE THAT ELIMINATES THE WIRE HARNESS, CHECKED THE KILL SWITCH ECT.WAS GETTING READY TO TOW IT AND FOR THE HECK OF IT DECIDED TO TRY IT AGAIN,WE HAD SPARK.WENT AWHILE AND IT QUIT AGAIN,LET IT SET ,FIRED IT UP RODE AWHILE IT QUIT AGAIN. WELL YOU GET THE PICTURE.HAVENT RIDDEN IT SINCE.TOOK IT OUT OF STORAGE,IT FIRED RIGHT UP,PUT IT IN THE GARAGE IT SAT PROBALLY 2 WEEKS,WENT TO START IT NO SPARK AGAIN,TURNED THE HEAT ON IN THE GARAGE SO TO CHECK IT OUT ,WAS ON MAYBE AN HOUR ,WENT OUT TO CHECK IT OUT DID NOTHING TO IT, ONCE AGAIN THE MACHINE HAD SPARK,NOT SURE IF THE HEAT HELPED OR NOT. ANY SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED

I had a watercraft that did that. It was the stator. When it got warm it had no spark, let it cool down for a few minutes it would run great. Build up heat, dead again.
