Ok ill start by saying i know they are different but will a stator from an xlt engine work in a 650 engine? Reason is I just put a wiring harness in my 88 indy 650 and noticed the white plugs are different. Same plug style just different pins in different places. If i take the stator from the xlt engine with the right plug, will it fit/work in the 650 engine?
This is the plug on the xlt

Just is i looked at the pics i noticed the plugs from the xlt dont even match!! LOL! The wiring came out of a working 95 xlt.

you need to get a schematic from the sled the 650 came out of, and compare the wiring to the XLT wiring.

You can find the wiring schematic for the 95 XLT wiring in this thread - http://www.snowmobilefanatics.com/forum/topic/102341/display.aspx - the wiring for the 95/96 XLT is the same.
