I have a new 600 xc sp, and the track is a bit strange. The center of the track has a lug every third tread. Not sure where to start my stud pattern. i am putting 144 studs on sled. Does the stud pattern interior start immediately behind the lug? Does not seem to make much sense to have these studs hanging out in the area with no lugs. I am worried about ripping track. thoughts? Web sights?

This is an interesting point. I too have this wierd style track on my 2000 triumph and am getting ready to stud. If this works right i'll try to show what he/we mean. Or if you happen to have a dennis Kirk catalog you can see the general idea on page 170 of the 2001 snow catalog. it is sold there as a snowcross track, except our stock lug height is not that big.

First, I'd say use a V pattern, it's a bunch of small V's with a stud on the outside of the track on every other one, like this

Something similar to that anyway, and work around that middle lug, shouldn't be a problem.

Before u drill holes in your track though, I'm going to go take a look at my track and make sure I'm showing you the proper pattern, it's been awhile since I've played with my sled and I want to confirm.

I'll post something here tomorrow (the 11th of Sept.)

Hey polaris-man,

Did you ever get a chance to look at your stud pattern? Just a little curious, cause you said you were going to reply a couple days ago.

Whoops, with all the action on TV and such with the happenings in New York, it slipped my mind. Sorry about that, if I get a few minutes tomorrow, I"ll take a look.

Again, I apologize for my forgetfulness.

Would have today, but I'm in the process of moving to the city, to go to school. Then I will only be home on weekends. Going into the city again tomorrow, but if I get the chance, I'll take a look before I go.

Writing it on my hand right now in permanent marker, so I don't forget.

Well here is what the Woody's traction control rep told me in the email.

Dean-
Great question. Woody's template should start pattern any place - track
is 3 bar pattern. Stud template is 4 bar - so stud location will change in
relationship to track bar design.
Thanks-
Doug

Hope this helps ya out, i am gettin ready to start puttin my studs in finally

Here we go, I checked, this is the pattern for 144 studs.

That's how it would be arranged on my track anyway. There is a lug between each row of studs.
