these are the studs I was looking at. For studs, backers, nuts it seems pretty good. My only concern is they are seconds, they say the threads might be slightly larger than normal and only require a some oil to
put them on. Any thoughts? Also I'm gonna be getting a 96 pack and run them down the middle. Any good patterns?

Thanks

They look alright. You do know they are seconds/blems, right??
For a 96 pattern I normally do a 2 2 2 pattern. Starting in the middle, then go a tad wider, then about 1" from each edge, then starting over.

Exactly, 222 patern while making the overall pattern look like this:

<><><><>, that is the pattern a friend told me to do, and I have always run my tracks with that pattern, zero pull throughs.

i wouldnt go with cheap studs, seen some sleds come through here that the guy got a great deal on ebay, with woody or stud boy he would have spent more money. but when out on the lake and the cheap studs just spin on ice what good are they, have seen some with carbides fall out or stud bends over. the warrenty is no good if you dont have an invoice from the company.

personally just spend the money on the big names and be happy.

the other thing is they are a tiny bit oversize. even with lube i can see a nut once in a while sqweeking and freezing on the stud before you get it tight, now you have to cut the stud or nut apart.

I have a V patern in the center with 144 and and every other set I did doubles instead of one on each side. Came out very nicely. None of the studs are directly in line with others in the V they form.

IMO never stud the outside of the track, just plain a bad idea. And you can get a better deal on some quality studs. I paid $200 shipped for 96 1.325" Woody's Gold Digger's & tall nuts with 96 aluminum round backers.

Going with the freezing on the stud before tight, I would stay away from them. There's a reason the factory rejected them. They know they are going to give the installer a bunch of problems, especially being stainless. How many are you going to wreck because the allen wrench can't hold and strips out too?? Spend the extra $$ and get some good ones.

144 studs should all be in the center. no need to get studs on the outside lugs until you get over 192 studs.

These looked better and are not 2nds, i still might consider the red tips. just depends on if i can find a die for them for not a whole lot.

Those are better the only downfall is they have almost zero carbide, they will go fast. Much better to get woody's.

I will call for instock but if they have it on hand i can get a woodys signature series 96-1.175" 5/16 stud and aluminum backer to you for about 150-160 dollars. then you know you have a good stud.

how come you dont hear about these red tips at snowmobile events? chances are they are some chinease knock off company that sticks to ebay.

Don't cheap out! Get either Studboy/Roetin or Woody's(preferred IMO).
So you think roetin makes good stuff? I just got 3 sets of carbides in the mail from them, they look good but i was wondering weather i should run them on my main sled or not.

heard good things. A friend of a friend I rode with had 2000 miles on his 96 setup. they seemed to been holding up well. About the extent of my knowledge on them

the roetin warthog is one of the toughest studs out there. if i did more stud sales i would become a dealer for them in a heart beat.

A lot of dealers buy studs in the thousands for cheap and are able to sell them for dirt cheap because of it. If I did'nt have the money, I would find the cheapest woody's stud(I think they are called the signature series).
