i'm as die hard polaris as i can be, but when arctic cat pulls out a sled like this it deserves a standing ovation- no matter what brand you are. way to go cat!
Hmmm, looks like Cat is jumping back into the 700 class in a big way!
140 horse out of a 700?
What are they going to do to the 800 to pass the 140 mark?
Should be interesting.
what is the hp on a 700 XC SP? 2002 that is. A kid I know is claiming 143 I was like WTF are you talking about??? I think he is wrong. Anyone? Besides guys notice hmm claimed dry weight of 435. damn that is like 50-70 lighter than present sleds.
Man if I had that F5 and piped it I bet I could beat most 600s. I weigh 130lbs the sled weighs 425.(claimed) I know my dad's Viper is faster when I race it so man I can just see that.... /me starts drooling. I need a job and pronto!
The 2002 XC700 SP puts out around 130-132 hp my friend has the blue one it moves out but it weighs in around 510-520 lbs, the new F7 would have a crazy power-to-weight ratio!!!!
yeah I knew that kid is an idiot. He tells me all this dumb shit. Says his dad's 2001 XC 600 beat a SRX in a river race. I was like maybe a 1/8th or 1/4 he said no a long race. Bull I must say. First time he was claiming that his dad beat a Viper but he was claiming this back like in June of 2001 when Vipers weren't even around yet for his dad to race.
Damn you Arctic-Cat I can't sleep cause of you!! I just keep thinking of ways to get my hands on an F5 12:44am and I have school today. Got to feed the dog take her for a walk damnit I need sleep. But I need an F5 too
That FireCat is sweet!! And I like the idea of a 700 (my favorite size). As for that crap that kid is feeding Sled Dog, there is a lot of info missing. A well clutched and jetted '01 XC 600 can be a handfull. But beat an SRX in a long race? It must have been gettin' pretty deep by the time that kid stopped talkin'!!
Oh well, good job Cat!

with that light of weight and the power of that new 500, i'd bet you could smoke a lot of new 600's box stock. especially considering the clutching and traction improvements on the f5.

try more like 498 dry. straight from the horse's mouth.
I was thinking more like wet not dry but yeah. And I agree it could prolly smoke 600s stock. Man DD twins and clutch kit bet it would beat worked 600s.
Jeez, 105 outta a 500 and 140 outta a 700? That's freakin nuts!!! Plus those things are definetely the lightest sled out there so no freakin way another sled will come close. That's just not fair!!! j/k....that's just great for all you cat guys, but what about all the rest of us when you blow by us like nothin huh? Lucky bastard. But in all seriousness that thing is sweeter than hell. And I too saw the X Games, and those things looked awesome in both black and red, so these things will look sweeter than hell too. I think this next year, everyone is playin catch up somehow, but I think that Polaris is way behind.
Everyone has to catch up w/ the Yami RX-1...then the Cat ZR 900, then the FireCats. But I'm interested to see what the new MX Z REV 800 H.O. will pull on a dyno cuz it damn well might be close to what that Cat 900 is getting. I really don't know. We'll all have to wait and see.
