1991 Indy 500, Mukuni 38 roundslides. Problem is that the ball end of the cable that hooks into the throttle slide keeps pulling out. The cables are hooked into the slides in the groove in the ball end and the looking plate rotated over to hold it in. Happens on both sides! Any ideas, cabled too tight, loose, not being hooked in correctly? The cable moves very easily not binding. Isn't tight when the bars are turned either way. You knoe soon as it happens, engine just boggs out. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Cable too loose and possibly springs are worn out, not enough pressure in the slide? When you hook the ball end into the slide, can you pull it through by hand or is it locked in pretty good? Just wondering if the ball is worn too small too??

When you put the cable end into the slide and move it into the slot, are you putting the tab on the lock plate down into the slot?

Just throwing a couple things out there.
