Just had a buddy mention this to me. If you don't have the official Polaris 10lb weight to hang from the track when setting the tension just buy a cheap fish scale and hook it on the track where you are supposed to place the weight and pull till you hit the desired weight. Cheap and easy.

Or a 10lB barbell weight. It keeps the hands free to work the tools.

The 10lb barbell weight is what i use, i take two very small wrenches about 10mm or 5/16" and tie a short piece of rope between them. Slide the one wrench through the hole in the barbell weight and one through a track window. Seems to work very well for me.

Polaris is my way out - Other people just use a door.

My cat weighs 10 lbs. So I just tie a rope from him and hang him from the track.

The screaming is dulled by the engine noise. [/quote]
Thats the way to go! we don't have any cats at out house...I wonder why? ;-) they make good moving targets for shotgun...they dont fly quite as nice as clay pigeons though! j/k but i still dont like them...

It's not fair to give only a tiny bit, weatherman, gotta have more now!

How creative can we get? Any other ideas how to fashion an approx. 10lb weight for track tension? Cat and beer are taken boys!(and girls)

Once I had to be creative at my brothers house we used several cans of soup in a plastic bag, double bagged. Pushed the tie handles through the track and used a stick. Hey it worked!

The cat don't weigh 10 lbs, when it keeps on flinching at the end of the rope it moves the scale past 10lbs then back.

Shanet963 how did you get you're cat to stay still?

Put the cat in the plastic bag with the soup and beat it with the stick. That will keep if from squirming.

when i run out if beer in my 12 packs, and still dont have the tension right, i go get the neighbors ugly little snouzer type dog, tie some rope around each of his legs, and tie the 4 ropes to various track windows, and to keep him from squirming, i wack him with my 15" breaker bar, just hard enough to daze him. and when the job is done, put him back in his pen tied up of course so he wont run after me and bite my ankle
