I've got an 02 Classic with an M-10.

Just wondering what distance the track should be from sliders when checking tension ?

Same a regular suspension 1/2 to 3/4" ?? Does the M-10 make a difference on how tight/loose your track should be?

According to spec, track tension should be measured 16" ahead of the rear idler shaft and having a ten pound weight pulling the track down.

Edge suspension measurement spec should be 3/8 - 1/2".
M-10 suspension measurement spec should be 7/8 - 1 1/8".

I know for an Edge suspension it can be run as loose as possible without ratcheting.....not sure if the same is true for an M-10.

Alot of us veteran riders believe in the theory of preserving our tracks and that the OEM specs are way to tight. There are several of us who tension just to the point of slippage on the drive cogs. You will see a huge improvemment in track and suspension wear, especially on machines that have a problem with helix peal. Search Google on this topic and you'll find a huge following.
