I just got done rebuilding a 85 yamaha ss440. Engine sounds and run great but I got a serious smoking problem. Ive tried adjusting the mixture and the oil pump. Anyone have a suggestion to fix this problem?
The first time you start any two stroke sled when its cold, its going to smoke a lot when you first take off. But after an 1/8 to a 1/4 of a mile it should be lessening and eventualy cease. If you're going like a couple of miles and the smoke is still pouring out, then I'd be concerned.
This mabey a dumb ? , but did you hone the cylinders? If you didnt the rings have a hard time seating and can cause excess smoke. This happened to a friend of mine. If you did then sorry I cant help. Good Luck, TXC
