I recently bought an '02 viper er with a 1.25 inch track (slightly worn to 1.18) The dealer says I shouldn't put in any studs longer than 1.25 or I'll chew my tunnel and exchangers up. I do a lot of riding in VT and some of the trails are steep and can get a bit icy...I'm considering selling the 1.25 inch track so I can get something studdable. thoughts, comments??

If most of your riding is on trail then a 1" with studs should still hook up hard on snow and give you the traction you need on icy uphills. ?? is an 1/8" going to cause you to hit your coolers? Seems odd normally more clearance is allowed then that. Is the 1.25 track stock or was it swapped on. If it is stock you should be able to stud and add tunnel protectors.

the 1.25 inch track is not the stock option (normally 1 inch), I bought it from a dealer, and they don't know why the previous owner bought such a deep lug.
