They are little round pieces that are used to optimize airflow in a round slide carb. Here's a link so you can see for yourself...

Some people believe they work... others say they don't... I don't have any first hand experience with them but the theory behind it makes me think that they would make a difference... more mileage than hp gain I would say.

I will post this link even though PolarisEdge already posted one.

http://www.mcbperformance.com/ufo.html

The UFO stands for Ultimate Flow Optimizer and they smooth out the airflow in your carb by keeping the air flowing smoothly past the slide cavity. The pictures on the link show it well.

The link also has some more information including some actual numbers from the dyno. The shop that the link is to works closely with a dyno shop and I have faith in their numbers.

(I just looked at the site and there use to be a link to their dyno shop on the site but I don't see it now..hope they didn't lose their dyno access. I was hoping to get the sled on the dyno at some point)

I installed a set on my 79 TX 340. They did wonders for low-mid range and really cleaned up the throttle response. they dont do a whole lot for high end and no difference at wot.
Overall, a great investment, however they wont work on our xc 700s. They are for round slide mikunis.

But they do have a product for the keihins on our 700s.
Check out this link:

you need need to reduce your pilot jet size by 50% and usually Change your needle height, and sometimes modify your needle jet.
You also have to slightly modify your slides, all real simple stuff.
