Update to RXL carb install

Well the install was easy as i had no problems converting from efi to carbs. I got a deal on some 34 mm carbs and they seem to work great so far. I have some questions about jetting. Does anyone know what jets i should run with a indy 650 with 34 mm carbs and tripple piped? Let me know. I don't know to much about carbs so be clear thank you.

i would say you should maybe call your local dealer to see what they have for info on jet size, i know the carbs on my 580 ar also 34mm, (vm34ss to be exact) the jet setting for them is200 hex , according to my book, and the pilot jet is 35, but i dont know if this would be the same for your application. good job on the mod.

[/quote]You are running 34mm carbs or 38 mm Carbs..... I have a 92 RXL 650 converted to 38mm with triple pipes a 280 Jet in the clutch and center cylinder and a 290 jet on the mag side of the engine. Depending on the altitude you have to either jet down...higher altitude (smaller jet)....jet up for lower altitude. you also have to raise or lower the needles according to temperature. ITs actually not that hard to figure out..... On warm days drop the needles to lean the mixture on cold days raise them so the mixture stays rich a few runs at wide open throttle with different jets should give you a good idea of where you need to be. Always start with a larger jet size and work down.......You save yourself an engine rebuild that way....I assume you know how to check the plugs for the proper mixture.that is that they are a light tan in colour.

Did you use XCR 600 carb boots? I tried converting my 91 RXL to carbs, and ended up switching the whole engine out for another carbed 650 (well actually closeer to 700 with the Wiseco kit). But i'd still like to get the RXL engine running with carbs as back up.
Polaris never made a 650 with 34 mm carbs. Were did you get the boots? did the XLT boots fit the 650 cylinders?
The 650 with 38 mm carbs used 260 Main jets the same as the 600 XLT engine with 38 mm carbs, so maybe the 200 jets would be close for a 650 with 34 mm carbs. Either way be carful until you get the jetting dialed in.

my 600 runs 34 mm crabs 270 mains on 1 and 2 cylinder and 280 on the mag side but my needle jets are WAY TOO BIG so im down sizing them next weekend after i pick up that sled from ya dugger13 =o)

My wife said its me or my sleds... Im sure gonna miss her
Thanks for all the input. here is what happened. I got hooked up with 34 mm carbs and boots from a 94 xlt sp. i also got the airbox and fuel pump from the same guy. The boots had to be drilled out so the original 650 bolts could fit through the boots. Everything went well. The clutch side cylinder has a 250 jet in it, and the other two have 240's. The sled seemed to run "off" so i am taking it to a dealer to have it jetted in. Thanks for all the help.
