I've herd both ways so I wanted to clear up if gasket sealer should be used when installing new top end gaskets?

How about intake manifold gaskets? sealer or dry?

If sealer, I hewrd to use a "Spray on " type sealer? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm rebuilding 1996 Polaris xcr600 sp.

Also, do cases need to be split when instaling crank seals?

I only use it were its recomended in the shop manual to do so. For my Polaris, the only place they state to use the liquid gasket sealer is on the crank case halfs. I don't use it any where there is a paper or metal gasket to be used.

He's right, you could use it on the intake and cylinder base, but it's not too great to do. NEVER use it on the head.
