so i decided to try and build this crazy project ive wanted to try for a while. the idea is to build a vintage mountain sled with an updated long track suspension. big motor with pipes ect. so i put some ideas for parts together. the suspension will be a variation of the M10 suspension originally a 133 inch it will be stretched to take a 144 inch track it will get 8 inch rear idlers and 9 tooth extrovert drivers. The chassis will be a modifed 75-76 snojet chassis. front end will be widened and raised. a polaris jack shaft drive and chaincase will be fitted ( it will be rolled). the motor will be a modified polaris 650 indy liquid triple engine with triple pipes. seat and tank may be from a polaris edge. i have most of the stuff to do these mods. 650 engine, jack shaft drive train spare sno jet chassis, ect. hoping to pick up this skid within a week or two then the building begins. what do you guys think. anyone else ever long track a vintage with a newer suspension.

You will definitely have to post a lot of project pics[;)] sounds like one sweet project, have fun[:D]
sounds like its is going to kick major bum in the mtn's lol
I remember reading a post on snowest about how a group of guys made their own hillclimbing sled from scratch and they went with a older leaf spring front suspsension. Was a really neat sled. I never got too see pictures of it in action.
I'm working on doing that to a Ski Doo Citation. Extra 12, 462 liquid engine, Mach 1 jackshaft/chaincase, etc.
ya that will be cool....does anybody know how much power or how fast a JD liquifire 340 is? It is the older style liquid cooled one with the wider body and it looks more like a bubble in the front than the 1980-84 style.......Thanks, Ed
sounds sweet
that would be pretty sweet to see an old sled beta a new mod sled.
I was thinking of doing something like this also with a 1980 tx chassis. But I was just wondering how hard it is to put a liquid cooling system into a chassis that isn't designed for it. Seems like it might be tricky to get the coolers in and all your hoses ran.
I think you are starting out with the wrong chassis. I would go with an older TXL or Centurion chassis. It would be really tough to make an older snojet chassis handle decent and to install the coolers you would need to keep the 650 running decent. A TXL or Centurion chassis can be lightened up real nice. riley

If I remember the 340cc was 40-45H.P. but with pipe's, clutch, and motor work almost 60HP was average..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 👋🤠
