OK, so I replaced the mechanical seal behind the impeller on my water pump. Now I cannot get the thing to seal up properly. The guy said that I would be able to reuse the gasket, I was wondering if this would be the problem? When I pour in the anitfreeze is just runs out, but I cannot see exactly where? Is it possible that the seal in the water pump did not seat properly? Would it allow it to leak so fast and so much?

I am hoping for it to be the gasket, they are closed now, so I cannot get one till the morning.

Take the pump off and check the gasket ,if its ok
the seal is either in wrong or torn .I don't know what your pump is like ,but if there is any way to
fill it with water when off that would be the way to see the leak .

I found the problem, the part of the mechanical seal that contacts the ceramic seal of the impeller was cracked. I must have done this when installing. Of course they do not have another one, so I have to wait until Thursday.
