Shovel, Saw, strap come-along, MRE, Block and tackle, pully, tow straps, GPS, cell phone, Road flares, Avi-probe, snowshoes, Clothes, plugs, Hand covers for handlebars

Really important: Surveyors tape, so if I get stuck and have to walk, I can mark my path. That way, I can find my sled or S&R can find me.

Ever try to light wet firewood, the road flares beat the hell out of matches.

Wanted: Marine flaregun.

As a trail rider,(pronounced "flatlander" to you mountain riders)
I realize there is a world of difference in what is "essential" for a days ride. I do, however, have to ask about a couple items mentioned:

foxracing:what is a leatherman squirt?

cal67:cotton balls dipped in vaseline and charcoal lighter fluid. Are they dipped in both, for makeing mini Moltov Cocktails,
or are some dipped in vaseline, for first aid, and some in charcoal
lighter fluid for starting a fire?

Thanks for the education, and be safe!

All depends on where we ride, but some of the stuff listed above is a great idea.

Gets me thinking though of what I left in there to fester all summer long in the trailer???? Sausage sticks, snickers, candy for the kids..... oughtta be some good stuff by now!!!

Shovel and rope are 2 of the main things I like to keep in there along with dry gloves/hats.

i got one for like $30 bucks it works great be cause it is really small and light. otherwise a bigger leatherman is nice too. i also cary this gadget that has a compass, themometer, watch, date, light, and a hook sharpener because it is made for fishing. so it is also waterproof. this is about 70-80 bucks though tell me if you want the name.
