I have a 2003 Polaris Pro X 440 liquid I might have a chance to pick up a 04 Polaris pro xr in good shape with all owners books and an extra motor. The sled was raced in a few races then set up for trail riding. Any ways whats the difference between the pro xr and the pro x? Also how much is the xr worth?

The pro-xr is a race sled. it has a race chassi with lots of reinforcements...tougher shocks, different gearing, clutching, different kind of power, bigger track tougher skid. And from what i see, a pretty cool looking seat lol

so is the pro x 440 liquid. the difference between the 2003 and 2004 is that the 2004 has "overhead" steering? thats what i think its called.
IMO i also think the 2004 looks wayyyyy better!
both are pretty cool sleds

There were two variations of the 2003 Polaris Pro-X 440.
.
.
2003 Polaris Pro-X 440 fan: As far as i know it only came in the consumor model 2003 Polaris Pro-X as a 440 fan along with the 600/700 and 800cc motors. It had Ryde-FX clicker shocks, 1" track. (it may have came with a 440 liquid motor in the style like the following pic, but if it does, ive never heard of it)--> Vehicle Snowmobile Motorsport Racing Auto racing

2003 Polaris Pro-X(r) 440: race sled for 2003, liquid cooled motor, came with walker evans clicker shocks, 1.75" track, red/black shorty seat, came from factory in race specs-ran on 110 octane, no oil injection, low gearing, very quick sleds.--> Vehicle Snowmobile Motorsport Boating Personal water craft

2004 Polaris Pro-XR 440: Last year for the Edge/Pro-X(r) body style for Snowcross, very strong chassis and fast motor, red hood & black belly pan with flame graphics, steering post went over motor, instead of under for a more rider-forward feeling, had red/black shorty seat, 1.75" track, walker evans clicker shocks, fancy flame windshield, came stock race specs-ran on 110 octane, no oil-injection, etc.... --> Land vehicle Vehicle Snowmobile Racing Motorsport

The 2004 Polaris Pro-XR 440 is the beast of the Polaris Pro-X line-up, best graphics, closest to rider forward that body style came, steering post over top motor, very strong chassis and rear suspention, quick motor with dragon button.

Thats an 03 and its in need of some help. Looks like it is in desperate need of a skid relocation mod and those shocks don't look like they are the right length, maybe its just the angle of the picture though. If I were you I would get the 04 if its in good condition.

so picture 2 lol. thats the race sled for 2003. Nice sled.......!

and i agree, that sled needs the relocation mod done!! (drop front tourqe arm 3/4")

but how do you figure the shocks arent right lengths? lol.

and yellow springs? those arent stock......

They had a problem getting oil to the center crank bearing if I'm not mistaken. They make a case mod as well that allows it to get oil to the bearing. Great sled overall.

that sled still needs the relocation mod BAD (makes a huge difference) and those springs could be fine, just not stock colour and look gay as they match nothing.

and yea the oil issue is with the 2004 440's.
