What do you guys reccommend to get my sled moving? I like the idea of a 800 XCR topend, if I could find one at a decent price. The next idea is a 680 ULTRA topend. I just went to a radar run competition on the ice and I'M HOOKED. I figured I'd use this sled to compete myself for the first time next year.

You right , 800 vestop end. You'll need carbs, Cdi remap and pipes.
Option two HTG 900 iron sleve upgrade
Ping sixpack on here and HCS, he had the parts for sale. He has two, you can use one of your jugs and have the update done. I do have one 97 cyl that is bad.

I did a HTG on my old 97, had a ton of miles on it. By far the Ves top end makes the sweet combo.

If I go with the 800 ves top end can't I rejet my carbs? How do I go about remaping my cdi? I heard that my motors pipes were designed for the 800 storm, will they work.

Yup , thre pipes might just work, I heard the same.
HTG in Grand Island can remap the cdi.
Ask Sixpack what he ended up with for carb and jetting.
Man it's been a few years, I think I hard storm carbs on, thinking 38's.
