my 99 XCR had a ring failure chipped the nick plating one one cyl, so i bought a brand new one with oem rings/gaskets piston looks fine so... my question is my other two cylinders have 130 and 129 psi so should i even take them apart? i'll be doing new wisecos in spring with a hot trail port so... what should i do? i may re plate this spring though.

Check the easy things first before tearing into the motor. Check the VES valves and the rubber bellows. Three ripped bellows will lose rpms.

you replate if the cylinders are out of spec or this is damage/chipping.

if you are going to be doing a wiseco swap next spring i would send them out at that time and tell them what piston you are using, the wisecos run a very tight tollerance, so for best results they might need to freshen up the nicasil.
