a friend of mine just bought a 95 XLT Special. It's my understanding that the 95 XLT has 34mm carbs. My 96 XLT SP has 38mm carbs. I just happen to have a set of three 38mm carbs from an Ultra 680. My question is will the bigger carbs mak a diffence, will they fit, and what adjustments while I have to make to them work on the 95 XLT.

Thanks Mark

They should work, those carbs have definitely been used on that size engine, they will have to be tuned once on the sled just like any carb.

The hardest part will be if the throttle and choke linkages are not the same.

it's my understanding that the specials should have the 38's on them! thats what makes them special. you may have to change your carb boots to the engine if it does have 34's on it. bigger carbs means bigger power.usually a sticker under the hood with a tuning guide.
