My Dad's sled, a 1980 Yamaha Exciter 440, is leaking oil big time around the tachometer cable where it goes into the engine on the side of the oil pump. We took the cable loose and pulled it up out and it was dripping with oil...is there supposed to be oil in there?! If so what do I need to replace to fix the oil leak? It is leaking out and then be slung everywhere by the primary. I am wondering if the oil pump is leaking into the tach cable area or if there is a bad seal somewhere...at any rate we are stumped.
