Well, as you can see my login - RXLBOY - i've made the switch to Cat. A buddy of mine at work is a huge cat guy and always chirps me about my polaris sleds so i decided to take some advice and try out a cat. I live in Canada so sleds are a lot more expensive here but I still got a good deal. I bought an 04 F7 EFI, green, d&d clutch, d&d y pipe, shorty windshield, 4 inch riser, handle guards. I'm gonna attach pics soon but im so pumped for winter!

I do have a question though. Is the odometer in miles? I think it is but the guy i bought it from said it was km because it was a canadian version even though it was built in the states with the rest of them. Id like to believe him but i just dont know. Any info?

U can change ur speedo by pressing the 2 buttons I think the top one will control if u want a digital read on your RPM or have ur needle be in charge of that and have ur speed on the digital screen that is how I have mine. the second button should make it interchangeable between KM and Miles, trip,or hours. I can be exact on how that works if my sled was under a build I could tell u better.

That is usually how they are.

Yeah one cycles through the trips and the other switches digital and analog like boondocker said but I think you need to hold the one for the odometer for a few seconds and it should change between km and mi.

Well i went out to the sled and tried what you guys said. You're right that the top button changes the RPMs and speed back and forth, and the bottom button just goes back and forth between hours, odo, and trip. So it never did change from miles to km. I could be doing it wrong but i played around with the buttons and couldnt get anything to change. pretty sure its 5200 miles. brutal

Try holding the buttons down for 10 seconds or so to change to kph or mph if you didn't already...my cousin has a Sabercat with the same speedo so if I get a chance i'll ask him.

to get it into km if it is in mph you have to blug i believe the brown wire in under the spedometer. i am not sure of the color but that is the trick on my f5 and sabercat. all u do is plug the wire into the other color matching one. You access it from under the hood. it is above the lights behind the spedo cluster.

That seems to have answered your question!

Nice man thanks. Well its confirmed, he had the brown wire unplugged so its 5200 miles, over 8k kms. That really sucks! Probably due for a rebuild soon.
Only if you're low on compression or have some other mechanical reason for a rebuild. I've seen many F7's with 8k-10k miles on an untouched motor and they are still running strong.

I can confirm that, my buddy has an 03 that he snow-checked and actually he burned down the motor around 1000k due to the EFI setup they had before the recall, he rebuilt it and had the recalls taken care off and that sled has close to 11-12k one one rebuild. At this current moment he is installing the F9 kit from D&D.

i've heard different numbers from different people. what do you think in terms of compression is good? i've heard as low as 120 and as high as 170. I really have no idea though.

150 is about perfect, 110 is low so your about in the middle...still got quiet a while left[thumb]
